Rolling

When we were at the doctor’s office the other day she asked if they were rolling over. I replied “no they aren’t really even trying yet.” About two seconds later Jack proceeded to roll over on the table. Jack is already proving me wrong. Funny stuff.

We have been getting out and about a little more. Today we went with the mall to meet a good friends new little one. We had a great time. The kids were good and I enjoyed getting out and about. Here are a couple of new pics.

4 Month Check-Up

January 25, 2010 at 11:22 am | Posted in Uncategorized | 3 Comments

The babies went to the doctor for their four month check up last week. They are both doing great.  Leah was 23 inches long and weighed 10lb  6 oz, which puts her in the 10% for height and the 3% for weight. Jack was 23 1/4 inches long and weighed 11lb 9 oz, which puts him in the 5% for height and the 3% for weight. They had their second round of shots which is never fun and were a little out of sorts for a couple of days.

We started cereal last Thursday. It doesn’t seem like they are actually getting much in their stomachs but they have slept very well the last couple of nights so maybe they are getting some. They both seem to like the cereal, but it is a lengthy and messy process for me. Last night the babies slept from 8:30 until 5:30 and the night before they slept from 8:30 until 5:00. I feel much more rested than I have for a long time. I hope that this continues. The doctor told us that they really shouldn’t need to eat in the middle of the night and told us not to feed them before 4:30 even if they wake up. It seems like it would be torture for Jason and I if they wake up at 3:00 or so and we have to listen to them cry for an hour and a half. Hopefully that won’t happen. We are also trying to work on putting them to bed awake and letting them fall asleep on their own… it is getting better. Jason and I have a hard time not rocking them to sleep when we know it will make the whole process quicker.

I put a couple of pictures of their first cereal experience below.

Twice As Much Fun

January 19, 2010 at 5:11 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 Comment

It has been quite a while since I have posted anything. It seems like that last few weeks have been so busy I have hardly had time for anything. The kids are getting big. It is hard for me to belive they will be four months this week. We have started to get out and about a little more. We got a new stroller that I can hook the car seats in, which allows me to take the kids out alone if I need to. It still isn’t easy but it is possible.

Not much new going on. Both kids are getting better at tummy time. They still aren’t loving it but tolerate it for longer than they were. They have slept from 8:30 to 4:45 on several occasions but often wake up at 1:30 or 2:00. I will be glad when sleeping until 4:45 is a regular occurence. In the beginning when people asked what it was like to have twins I would say that its not twice as hard as having one…. there are days I think I have to take back that statment. The good thing is there are times that are twice as much fun becuase you have two.

Here are a bunch of pictures. Hopefully I will be able to start posting more often.

The Cry Pants and the Amazing Leah

The Cry Pants

A few weeks ago we came home from visiting Jason’s family and Jack was having a terrible afternoon. Nothing we were doing seemed to help. We tried the swing, the bouncy, holding him and walking around and nothing made the crying stop. Finally, I tried changing his diaper for the second time and when I took his pants off the crying magically stopped. I put the pants back on and the crying resumed. IT WAS THE PANTS! I felt terrible I had put pants on Jack that were squashing the life out of him. I felt like a bad mother,  but then I checked to see how tight the pants were and they weren’t really tight at all. So the next explanation was that Jack must have had gas and it was just a bad day for pants.

A few days later I put another pair of pants on Jack only to have the same thing happen. These pants weren’t tight either. Jack has decided that he cannot wear most pants. For some reason there are one or two pairs that are ok but the rest are now  in the back of the closet. I guess we will stick to one pieces for now.  All of this makes me wonder who is really in charge here… I’m beginning to thing it might be Jack.

The Amazing Leah

For the past week when I go in to feed the babies in the middle of the night Leah somehow manages to get herself totally upside down in her crib while remaining swaddled. There was a wedge in her bed to help with her reflux and I thought that the incline was helping her wiggle, but last night I took out the wedge and she still managed to get herself upside down. She is wild sleeper.

Busy busy

The last few days have seemed very chaotic. The kids are getting much more active and for some reason a lot more fussy. My personal opinon is that they are getting bored. They are awake longer but can’t really hold toys or do much of anything so they just get bored and then cry. It would help if we could go outside or go somewhere but it has been so freaking cold out we have been on house arrest. I am already tired of the winter… this is probably not a good thing.

We did get out of the house yesterday to have pictures taken. The babies did very well. I cannot wait to see how they turned out!! I’ll try and see if I can post some when we get them back.

I promise to post some new pictures and a longer update and some more pictures soon… but today has been a very long day and I need a rest while they are both asleep.
