Spring Day

Yesterday was a good but challenging day. We went to lunch with Daddy. We were going to eat outside at Pizza 51, but the winds were crazy so we had to come up with an alternate plan. Then the kids and I went and bought Leah some shoes. I have been looking everywhere and haven’t been able to find any small enough. She has these little tiny narrow feet. We finally found some at Little House. The zeros fit her but I ended up getting a one. I have a feeling it may always be difficult to find Ms. Leah shoes. It was a fun outing.

After we got home from lunch and shopping I took the kids outside and we played on a blanket and then in our new swing. They LOVE the swing. The laugh the entire time they are in it. They are also loving the bouncing chair things that hang in the door way. I borrowed another one from our neighbor so they can both jump at the same time they just watch each other and laugh it is soo funny.

Naptime has not been fun the past few days. Jack just refuses to sleep and then is a bit of a bear for the rest of the day so I decided that I needed to get strict again and just let him cry until he falls asleep. It took him about 45 min at naptime and then about an hour at bedtime, but he did sleep all night. I am hoping we can get him back to sleeping all night every night because I am getting worn out.

Jason’s parents brought us dinner yesterday. It was nice to not have to worry about it and they brought GO Chicken Go… YUMMY! When we were dating Jason took me there and I thought it was so gross, but I have come to love it. I think it has to grow on you.

Here are a few pictures from yesterday.

Jack’s Photo Shoot

Finally Posting

April 26, 2010 at 7:57 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 Comments

I have been meaning to post for days but the past couple of weeks have been CRAZY. Jack has had an ear infection that doesn’t seem to want to go away and hasn’t slept all night for days (He is starting his second round of antibiotics today). Jason and I had a weekend getaway since I last posted. We went to Dallas for four days. We had a great time. We ate and shopped and just hung out. It was a nice break. While we were in Dallas we had breakfast with a friend of mine from college,  her husband and her daughter Molly. Molly is three and was a total doll. It made me excited for when our kids get bigger. One of the funniest things was riding around with them in the car and Molly requesting that we listen to Kings of Leon….she even knew all the songs.

This past weekend I hosted a shower for a good friend. I have hosted a lot of things at my house but this is the first thing since the babies have been here. It was more work than I anticipated. I kind of forgot that I wouldn’t be able to do much ahead of time. It all came together at the last-minute and it turned out great. It was nice to have a whole afternoon with adults.

The kids are cracking me up these days. Leah has started to do a strange version of crawling…she basically is crawling but keeps her head on the ground and won’t pick it up. It is pretty funny. She is getting quick and can roll or crawl off of her blanket faster every day. This past weekend we went and got the “baby jail” or gate.. it takes up our entire living room. I thought our house looked like a day care center before and now it looks like a cross between a pet store and a day care. The gate just keeps reminding me of those gates you use to keep puppies from running away. : )  Jack is becoming very vocal. He laughs out loud all the time and does this screaming/yelling thing when he is really excited. The kids have also started to notice each other recently. Today I had one of them in the jumpy thing that hangs in the door way and the other one in the excersaucer and they were cracking up at each other. It was too cute! I ran to get the video camera but they stopped as soon as I got it on.

Here are a couple of pics I have been terrible about taking pictures recently, so there aren’t as many as usual.

6 Months

April 12, 2010 at 7:50 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 Comment

This is a little late.. but better late than never right? The babies had their 6 month check up last week. Jack now weighs 14 lb 9oz and is 25 3/4 inches long. This puts him in the 25th percentile for height and the 10th percentile for weight. Leah is 13 lb and 24 3/4 inches long which makes her in the 6th percentile for weight and the 20th percentile for height.

The babies are both doing well. They have hit all their developmental mile stones and seem to be right on track. The doctor did tell us that we need to start feeding them baby food three times a day and include meat. This is kind of a chore because Jack doesn’t like baby food and would really prefer the bottle. The additional solid food is supposed to help with their acid reflux problems.. hopefully it will. Jack had a slight ear infection so he didn’t end up getting his vaccines and got antibiotics instead. This is our first time ever to take antibiotics… I am impressed that we made it 6 whole months. Leah has choked several times and I have had to give her the Heimlich so she is having a test done tomorrow to make sure that there is nothing in her throat that would cause this. If their isn’t anything wrong anatomically then we will go to an occupational therapist to work on her eating. Hopefully the test will go smoothly tomorrow.

Here are a few new pictures of Leah. Jack wasn’t cooperating so I have to try and get some more of him.

First Easter

April 4, 2010 at 7:53 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

I just realized that I hadn’t posted for a whole week. The babies were great last week. Very happy. We spent as much time as possible outside. Lots of walks! We had lunch with Daddy at work. Grandma Rhonda and Aunt Bailey came on friday and spent the night and Grandma Rosemary and Grandpa Joe came and had dinner with us on Saturday night.

I tried the crying it out thing on naps this week. It didn’t go that well. I think it is supposed to get easier every day but it seemed to get worse. The first day it took 25 minutes for them to go to sleep the second and third day Jack talked/cried/played for a whole hour and never went to sleep. This morning they it only took 15 minutes for the morning nap and then they never did fall asleep in their beds for the afternoon nap. They ended up taking the afternoon nap in the stroller. I guess I’ll keep trying. I think this may be a sign that my children are very stubborn.

Easter didn’t go as planned. We were going to go to church and then have dinner with the Tucker’s, but Jason was sick and Jack and I are both stuffy so we stayed at home. Jason’s family sent some food over to us and we spent the day just lounging around the house. I did manage to get a few pics of the babies in their easter clothes. I had really wanted to get a picture of all four of us because we didn’t get one at the baptism.. but that didn’t happen. Maybe we can take one before church next week.
