I know the kids are 10 months old… but these are a few of the professional pictures that we had taken when they were 9 months. Our new neighbor took the pictures and they turned out great!! I think they really show the kids personalities. I posted a link to his website below if anyone is looking for a great photographer.

Aunt Bailey has been taking some pictures of the babies and they are sooo cute! I wish I could take photos that turned out this well. The funny thing was some of these were taken while we were at Fazolis eating lunch.

10 Months

July 21, 2010 at 11:12 am | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 Comment

We had our nine month appointment yesterday (the day the babies were 10 months old). Jack weighed 17 lb and 9 oz and was 28 inches long which means he is in the 5% for weight and the 25% for height. Leah weighed 15 lb 9 oz and was 26 1/4 inches tall which means she is less than the 3rd% for weight and the 4% for height. We are suppose to get some weight on Leah so we have to increase her calories and add butter and cheese to anything she will eat. Today I have to take her to have some blood work done just to double check that her thyroid is working okay and check for Celiac disease. It is unlikely that she has a problem but the doctor wants to double check because she is falling below her growth curve.

The kids have been busy recently. They have both learned to drink from a straw and go crazy anytime they see a straw. They are still pulling up on everything but no one has learned to walk around things yet.

Leah is helping me type today which means this all I get to post. More later.

New Activities

I sent the link for our blog to a friend from highschool that is having twins. After I sent the link I sat and read a bunch of the blogs from when the babies were first born. It is really hard to believe how far we have come. They seem so big now and are becoming very independent. I now spend the majority of my days sitting on the living room floor or the kitchen floor and watching the kids crawl around me and play. I remember a day not so long ago when I thought they would never play on their own. We even moved the kitchen table to the corner of the room so the kids have more room to play. Our house looks more and more like a day care center everyday.

I’m starting to belive that Leah will be my trouble maker. She has recently decided that the dog bed is the coolest thing there is. She crawls towards it and when I say “Leah no” she starts crawling faster and then giggles when she finally gets there. Jack is a bit of a dare devil… but a reckless one. He pulls up to absolutely anything but often lets go once he is standing. It’s like he forgets he doesn’t know how to walk. Three or four times a day he falls down before I can catch him but it never stops him from going back for more. If he does pull up and stay holding on to something then he is normally trying to climb. I thought that we would have a brief stage of just crawling before we started the pulling up and climbing… but Jack is always trying to do the next thing. One of the babies favorite activities  is playing underneath the kitchen table. The love crawling around on the table legs and climbing up on the chairs, and for some reason they both love biting the chairs. Sometimes I wonder why we even buy toys.

When the babies do play with toys they are often fighting over them. In a room full of stuff they will pick one small thing they both have to have. If Jack takes something Leah is playing with she just looks at me and screams. I have a feeling this is a battle that will continue for years. I have decided that the best approach is to not get involved unless someone is going to get hurt.

Here are some new pictures. (Leah does have a bruise on her head. She fell down trying to pull up on her crib.)

Mommy Wisdom

When you become a mom you suddenly realize that you don’t know nearly as much as you thought you did. I was recently thinking about how much I have appreciated all of my friends who are moms and their good advice. Here are some of the best tips and tricks I have learned from other moms.

1. No sugar added applesauce is the same thing as baby food apple sauce but much cheaper.

2. They make infant motron without food coloring. ( I learned this the hard way)

3. Huggies wipes are the best.

4. You can put ice cubes in the mesh bags for fruit and it really helps with teething.

5. It really doesn’t matter if they sleep in the bouncy chair in the beginning.

6. Use night-time diapers a size bigger than the ones you use during the day to avoid leaks.

7. There are containers that hold baggies (similar to those used for dog poop bags) you need these for your diaper bag.

8. Put a couple diapers in your car. No matter how organized you are at some point you will get somewhere and not have a diaper.

9. Gas drops can really help little ones.

10. Buy a container of Pediatlyte to have on hand. When you need it you won’t want to go to the store.

11. Buy the book baby 411.

Baby Party

Last weekend we were in Lawrence and two of my good friends from high school came over with their little ones. Lexi is 5 months old Aiden is almost 8 months old and Jack and Leah are now a little over 9 months old. It was pretty funny to see them all together. We attempted to take a picture of the whole group but it didn’t turn out too well.

Fourth of July

July 6, 2010 at 1:23 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

We went to Lawrence this past weekend to celebrate the fourth of July. We had a wonderful weekend. We went out to lunch and went shopping downtown, we went to a party with Jason’s family and we spent a lot of time playing at Grandma and Grandpa’s house.

Jack and Leah seem like they are getting really grown up all of the sudden. They are crawling all over the place, pulling up on things and they are both waving. They are also constantly talking back and forth. Jack’s two front teeth finally came through and he is a much happier guy. We are all glad the old Jack is back. Between being sick and getting new teeth he had been grumpy for several weeks.

Here are a few new pictures.
