Christmas Cards

I am a little behind on blogging. I have a ton of things on my to-do list. One of the things at the top of my to do list right now is Christmas Cards. Growing up I remember Christmas cards being a big deal to my mom. Every year she would get us all dressed up and take a whole roll of film. Then she would go to one hour photo pick the best picture and make a bunch of copies. Things are so much easier now. We can take digital photos upload them to Shutterfly, design a really cute card and have them shipped to our house. As a mom of two little ones being able to do all of this from my house is very appealing.

We took Christmas card pictures this past weekend. I think my mom rubbed off on me because I had all four of us in matching outfits. I used to swear that I would never make my kids do that…. I guess you should never say never right?  Now I just have to decide what card I’m going to use.

Shutterfly has the cutest cards. You can check them out here http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/christmas-photo-cards. I can’t decide which one I’m going to use for sure but I am leaning towards one of the 5 x 7 cards below. I like the idea of putting a bunch of different pictures on one card. I also like that the cards look like really expensive cards you would get from a photographer but they aren’t expensive at all.

I am also thinking about making a calendar. We took a bunch of pictures of the kids last year dressed up for every holiday and it would make the cutest calendar. I’m sure Grandma wouldn’t mind looking at the babies every month.

If you decide cards at Christmas aren’t your thing Shutterfly also has New Years Cards . http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/new-years-cards

Welcome Back

We had a wonderful time in Vegas. We missed the kids but it was still hard to come back. We got home Monday night around 8:30 and Jack woke up crying at 9: 30. We ended up with him in our bed and woke up at 4:15 am. Yikes. He got up again at 4:30 this morning. I’m not sure why this keeps happening but I am getting really tired of it.

I had a spa afternoon while we were in Vegas it was so nice to have some time to myself. I also did some shopping. Gap had the entire store 45% off… how can you not buy a few things when you are getting that kind of a deal. Jason gambled and hung out with the rest of the group. Here is a picture of Jason and I with Cassie and Jerome.

Today I have been finishing up laundry and baking. I got all Martha Stewart and decided to make my pie crust from scratch. In the middle of the project both kids were crying, the dough was getting too warm to roll out and I almost through the whole thing away and went with my back-up store-bought crust…..instead I turned on Bob the Builder pulled myself together and finished it. It doesn’t look the best but I think it will taste good. I think I need to work on my pie making skills.

I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving.

Vegas here we come…

Don’t worry the kids aren’t going to Vegas…just Jason and I.  We leave tomorrow. Which means that my to do list for today is long. Packing, cleaning, errands and getting everything ready for the weekend. My mom is coming to stay with the kids. Jason and I both feel so lucky that she is willing to watch all the time. We don’t have to worry about them when she watches them. They haven’t seen Grandma for almost two weeks so I”m sure they will be very excited when she gets here today.

Just wanted to post a couple of random pictures from this week. It looks like the one I tried to post of the kids yesterday is having problems. There is one picture where Leah is laying on the floor sucking her thumb. This is what she does when it is time to take a nap. It doesn’t matter where she is. Yesterday she did this at Gymboree.

Inspiration

I have been a bit of a slacker recently. Not in life just where the blog is concerned. I have been using my time during the kids naps to do other things. I have also been reading a lot of other blogs. Blogs about cooking, decorating, crafting and sewing. Sometimes I wish I was a bit more artistic. I am always reading these blogs where people take a 99 cent picture frame or box or something and turn it into this amazingly cute thing. In my experience when I spray paint something that was 99 cents it generally just looks like a great big mess. Here are a few of the blogs I have been reading recently.

After reading some of these I got inspired and decided that I needed a project yesterday. I hung some pictures in our mud room/office that I have been meaning to hang for a while. A simple project like hanging pictures can take forever with the kids. Leah decided to have a melt down while I was in the middle of the project and stood at the baby gate crying. She is becoming a very dramatic little girl some times. As soon as I picked her up she was laughing. Here are my before and after shots.

There isn’t a lot of new things going on with the kids. They aren’t walking yet..they took a few steps last week but haven’t at all this week. We started our gymboree class last week. They LOVED it. Jack was all over the place. He was not even a little shy. We go again this morning. I’m excited to see how they react today now that it isn’t new. They have been getting up really early this week. 4 am monday, 6 am Tuesday, 5 am Wednesday. This is making me one tired mommy. Jason and I leave friday for Vegas to celebrate his birthday and his brother and sister in-laws 5 year anniversary.  Hopefully we won’t be too tired to party it up. : ) My to do list today includes laundry and cleaning so my house isn’t a total mess when my mom comes to watch the kids.

Same ole stuff.

November 9, 2010 at 3:53 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

We haven’t really been up to much recently. Just the same ole stuff. The kids have had colds so we have been staying at home a lot but they are finally better so we are going to get out and about more this week. We are going to try out a class at Gymboree tomorrow..hopefully that goes well.

I was looking back through the kids photo albums yesterday and remember that we used to do “photo shoots” all the time. I did them because they got new outfits or because they were turning a month older. a “photo shoot” is becoming almost impossible these days I tried to do one last week and it did not go well. I posted a few pics from that day below.

Leah is starting to show more of an interest in walking. She took one step yesterday and actually knew what she was doing. Jack still shows no sign of wanting to walk. I have a feeling Jack won’t walk he will just run. Jack squats all the time and then stands up and then goes back to a squating position like is nothing. He is one strong little dude.

Halloween

November 2, 2010 at 9:22 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

The past weekend was sort of crazy. We were supposed to go to visit Jason at work in costume on friday but the kids had colds and weren’t feeling great so we ended up heading up to Lawrence early and skipping the costume party. Saturday Jason and I took my sister Bailey to visit K-State. She is thinking about going there next year and Jason wanted to show her around. We had a good time and my mom and Aunt Elizabeth watched the kiddos.

On Halloween we dressed the kids up in their costumes (Peter Pan and Tinker Bell) and went to visit a good family friend Carol then we went to lunch and went to visit my grandparents. The kids were wiped out by the time we got done with that so we ended up just coming home. I took Leah trick or treating at two houses on our street when we got home but Jack was done for the day so he stayed with Dad. Leah was really enjoying seeing all the other little kids out and she got really excited when people would put candy in her bucket.

In all the craziness I only managed to get one picture of the kids on my camera… and it is the back of them. Luckily my sister took some really great pictures. I promise I will get them from her soon so I can post them. My mom made the kids costumes and they both looked adorable.
