Day in the Life.

June 30, 2011 at 1:48 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

I read several other blogs. Mostly blogs of friends, a few random moms I don’t know and a cooking or decorating blog every now and then. One of the blogs I read is doing a week in the life this week and sharing what they do everyday for a week. I don’t know if I will make it a whole week but I thought I would at least do a couple of days. I wish I had done one of these when the kids were babies I can hardly remember what are days were like a year ago.

Wednesday

6 am- Jack and Leah wake up. Jack wakes up crying and Leah lays in her crib and watches him until I come in the room. The kids I go down stairs do diaper changes, let the dog out and I make breakfast for everyone. Eggs, Bacon and frozen waffles were on the menu yesterday. While the kids eat I unload the dishwasher (it is easier to do without little hands helping). Jason joins us before the kids are done eating.

7am-Jason leaves. The kids watch a few cartoons and play and I take a minute to eat some breakfast and read a few blogs and answer emails.

7:45am-Chore time. I wash Jack and Leah’s bedding, make our bed, finish folding a load of laundry and putting it away from the day before and attempt to clean up the house. Throw in two or three diaper changes and I get myself and both kids dressed.

10 am-Take a walk with a friend and her daughter. The kids eat a snack before we leave (rasins and crakers today).

11 am-Lunch. Jack and Leah are both starving and I cannot make food fast enough. Todays menu hotdogs, macaroni, and strawberries. Both kids inhale their food.

11: 30 am-We go outside to play until nap time.

12:15 pm-Nap Time. I was crazy and decided I was going to paint a wall during nap time instead of taking a break. What is wrong with me?

1:30 pm-I finish painting the wall and get things cleaned up and Jack wakes up. Jack and I watch some fresh beat band and cuddle. This is the only time of the day jack lets me just hold him. When he is done with cuddeling we read and play with Legos.

2:45 pm-Leah gets up. I get the kids diapers changed and shoes on and we head to costco for toliet paper, paper towels and guacamole..just the necessities. : )  The kids love costco and beg for every sample..unfortunately today they can’t have a lot of them. On the way home we swing by Sonic Happy hour. I let the kids get a small fry for a snack. Leah decides she no longer eats fries and Jack eats them all. After they are gone Leah cries “fries.”

3:45 pm- Come home and play for a bit before starting dinner. I get down a puzzle and we read a little bit.

4:15 pm-Attempt a quick pick up before Jason gets home. The kids walk behind me and get everything back out. At least I tried.

4:30 pm-Make Dinner. The kids are already hungry and begging for food. For some reason they always want to eat at 4:30.

5:00PM-Jason is home and we all eat dinner.

5:30 pm-Dinner is cleaned up and I head to the store to run and errand. When I get back our friends drop their daughter off for a few hours. (We take turns taking care of each others kids so we can each have date nights..our date night was monday).

6 pm-I decide to make vanilla icing and chocolate icing for cupcakes for a wedding shower on Saturday. Jason looks at me like I am crazy…but the next couple of days are going to be busy.

7:00 pm-Jammies for everyone, milk and bedtime stories. We put Jack and Leah to bed and Lexi hangs out with us until her parents get home.

10:00 pm-Bed time for me.

Little Angels

June 20, 2011 at 12:44 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

I just got the kids down for a nap after what was a very intersting lunch. You know when you go out to eat and there is that one family who appears to have no control at all over their children and their little angels aren’t exactly little angels? We were that family today. Acutally to be totally honest we have been that family several times recently. I don’t know what gets in to the kids but they go a little crazy when we try to eat out. If I were logical I would say we just aren’t going to eat out for awhile but sometimes I need to leave the house and I don’t want to cook. I am hoping the afternoon goes better.

Four Years

Four years ago today I married the man of my dreams. Life has been a little crazy this past year but there isn’t anyone in the world that I can imagine going through life with. Happy Anniversary Jason! I love you more than ever.

Sneak Peak

I have been working on some stuff for my nieces shower this week and just had to share this because it was so cute. I think almost everyone has made these for some occasion, but I’m going to share anyway. I took $5 worth of tissue paper and floral wire and made paper flowers. I needed some place to hang them so they wouldn’t get messed up and I took a string and hung them across the window in our computer room. I think this would be really cute in a little girls room. If you are interested in the instructions you can find them here.

The shower is in a couple weeks so I will post more details about it later.

Pictures

I am not going to write much because we are getting ready to go for a walk with our neighbor and another friend, but I wanted to post a few new pictures. There are more pictures of Leah because she has recently decided that she loves have her picture taken. When you ask her to say cheese she smiles great big and poses…I wonder where she gets that from? : )

We took the kids to the pool last night after Jason got home from work. Jack is a water baby. The baby pool area has a slide and he went down that thing probably 30 times. Everytime he was just as excited as the first. I wish I had brought my video camera. It was so much fun to watch him. Leah likes the pool too but is a bit more cautious than Jack. We swam until they were tired and shivering (it got a little cool last night) then as a treat I let them get  kit kat. I figure we need to add back the calories they just burned off. They seem to be getting skinner recently. Jack loved his “Can-nee.”

The Many Faces of Leah

June 9, 2011 at 6:46 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 Comment

This afternoon my mom took Jack home with her and Leah and I had the opportunity to have some one on one time. I love having time with the kids one on one. They are so different and normally much better behaved. I love having twins and I am soo soo grateful that we were able to have two children but I sometimes feel bad for Jack and Leah that they have to share everything and that they don’t get time with us one on one very often.

After dinner I took Leah outside and decided to take some pictures. This girl loves to pose and be the center of attention. In the time span of about 10 min I think I had a picture of her expressing about 12 different emotions. She was soo happy to sing, then sad that she dropped her rock, then terrified of the ants (this was a new one) Soo funny! Leah has come out of her shell recently. She is very mischeavous and loves to be the center of attention. She loves all things girly, which makes me happy. She has recently insisted on wearing a hair bow, she loves to carry a purse around and has definete opinions about what she will and won’t wear.

Summer time with the babies

June 8, 2011 at 3:24 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 Comments

We had a busy weekend filled with lots of fun activities. We visited the city market with Aiden and Lindsey, the kids spent the night at Grandma and Grandpas and Sunday we went swimming. Jack LOVES the pool! He is a crazy dude and is not afraid of anything. When we got out he kept yelling water water and trying to get back in. If I only had one I’m sure we would go everyday but it is way to dangerous to take them both unless I have a helper right now. I am hoping we will go lots of evenings after daddy gets off work.

This week has been busy so far! I feel like we have offically started summer. We have had several playdates this week. We played with Lexi a couple days, we met up with Katy and Teddy on Tuesday afternoon and played and today we had lunch and some outside fun with Jace and Ireland. I feel like I haven’t gotten much done around the house this week but the kids and I are really enjoying all of our social activities. Tomorrow Grandma Rhonda is coming to spend the day with us and we are going to DeAnna Rose. What a great Grandma spending her birthday on the farm!

I have lots to do but wanted to share a quick pic from lunch today. I wish I would have taken some pictures on our other playdates but I temporarily lost my camera monday and tuesday.

June 3, 2011 at 9:11 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

I have never done a link up before but I have enjoyed reading recipes from other people at Kellys Korner the past couple of weeks so I thought I would add my own on this week. This week’s show us your life is favorite appetizers. One of my all time favorite appetizers is green chili cheese cake or sometimes called Mexican Cheese cake. It is supposed to be a dip but we have a couple of people in our family that like it so much they just eat it with a fork.

Our Week

June 3, 2011 at 12:57 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

I have been a bad blogger..and we have had plenty of things going on I just haven’t really felt like it. Last weekend we spent the whole weekend in Lawrence. My baby sister Bailey graduated from High School. We had a big party at my parents house Saturday night. There were a lot of family friends I hadn’t seen for a long time and it was soo good to see everyone. A couple of my good friends from high school came with their families as well. It was really fun to see Jack and Leah with Aiden and Lexi or as Leah says “yexi and A.” The actual graduation was sunday. It was soo hot that Jason and I ended up taking the kids and driving around for awhile during the ceremony. Leah and I made it back in time to see Bailey get her dipolma but Jack crashed so he and daddy waited in the car. After the ceremony we all went out for burgers. At one point I looked over and realized that Miss Leah had her Pop (Grandpa Kirk), Daddy and Ste Ste (Uncle Stephen) all feeding her and talking to her. I think she already has these boys wrapped around her finger. I tried to get a picture but it didn’t turn out great.

This week has gone by quick. Tuesday we just hung around the house. We got caught up on laundry and went to the store nothing exciting. Wednesday we went to DeAnna Rose with Lexi and Libby. Libby is a teacher and is officially out for the summer, which is great. The kids love playing with Lexi and I enjoy having some adult conversation. Thursday was cleaning day and an impromptu lunch at Runza with Libby and Lexi. I think a bunch of people at Runza thought they were triplets. I wish I would have taken a picture of the three of them.  Today we had our visit from our Parents as teachers lady. Jack and Leah have met all of the milestones up to two years and are starting to get a few of the 24 to 36 month milestones. A few of the things I need to work on with them are drinking from a real cup (sonds messy to me), puzzles, and putting words together. They sometimes put two words together now but not very often.

Tonight we have plans to meet up with some friends for dinner and hit the Prarie Village art show tonight, which should be fun. Although Jack is currently refusing to take a nap so we will see how it goes.

Not much else is going on. Leah is still biting. She bit Jack on the face this morning. I will take a picture of Jack and post it soon. It looks awful. I feel so bad for the little guy. She just keeps doing it and nothing we are doing seems to be helping. Someone told me I should bite her but I just can’t bring myself to do that. You would think Jack would get tired of it and bite her back but he never does.

Here are some pictures from the week.
