Daddys are Better

Recently the kids have been wanting Daddy all the time. They would generally prefer that I not hold them when Daddy is home. It kind of makes me sad a little, but I know that it is good that they have such a great Daddy and that they love him so much!

I think part of their new obsession with Daddy has to do with the kids nightly play time with Daddy. Recently Jason has started giving the kids pony rides, throwing them on the couch and doing all kinds of rough housing. I am not good at that stuff.. I am good at cuddeling and rocking and the calming things. I am good at working on colors and numbers and shapes. Jason is good at that stuff too but he is really good at playing. I love watching how excited the kids get. They love it so much. I feel so lucky to be married to a guy who is not only a great husband but a great daddy as well. Here are a few of the pictures I took Sunday turning play time. I really like the one of Leah in mid air.

Crazy Monday

August 29, 2011 at 7:52 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Mondays are totally different now that I am back at work. I spent yesterday evening making lunches, laying out clothes and making sure bags for mothers day out were packed. It still feels a little strange to be doing all of that. I have only had a few days at work, but I am liking it . This is going to sound strange but I kind of feel like my work part of the day is my easy part. The mornings are crazy and the evenings seem crazy too so it is nice to have a portion of the day where I am only in charge of myself. I can work on one task at a time and focus all of my attention on one thing.

Jack and Leah’s second day of mothers day out went well. They got a pretty good report. Jack has been nicknamed the Parrot because he copies everything the teachers say all day. Leah talked some today. Jack did wake up from his nap screaming, but he does that at home occasionally so it was a total shock. Both kids took about an hour nap and they both loved playing outside in the sandbox..ecspeically Jack. He talked about the “Sandbox” all the way home.

After I picked the kids up from school we headed to the grocery store. I normally go to the grocery store early in the morning. There is no one at the grocery store early in the morning, which makes my trip easier for a number of reasons. I forgot some of these reasons until this afternoon. When we got to the store I had to park pretty far away. I carried both kids up to the store only to discover there were NO car carts. The car carts are those carts that have the giant plastic car on the back of them and hold two kids. For most parents they are a pain because the kids want to ride in them and they are a pain in the butt to stear..for me they are a necessity. If we don’t have a car cart I have to put one kid in the back with the food and then food gets thrown out and it is a bad deal. I decided not to shop without the double cart so I took the kids and started walking through the parking lot looking for a car cart. I found one..but a Dad with one kid got to it before me. I kinda wanted to yell at him, ” You only have one kid, that does not require a car cart.” I am pretty positive he saw me standing there and he took the cart anyway. So we walked further…and finally found  a car cart. The shopping went is always hard to stear those things and the more people there are in the store the harder it is. Plus if there are more people I can’t walk down the center of the aisle and the kids sometimes throw things in. At one point today i had about 12 packages of mini baby bell cheese in my cart…apparently Leah likes this. We finally got to the check out stand and there was a big line. The kids were doing pretty well until Leah decided she wanted to hug Jack. It started out nice enough but soon turned in to a move that looked like something from WWF. Leah was “hugging” Jack and scream “awwww” while Jack was yelling, “NO HUGS.” I am pretty sure everyone in the checkout lanes was staring at us. It was an adventure, but life with twins always is.

This evening we had dinner, took a walk, took a bath and played. The evening is my new favorite time with the kids. They have been in such a good mood recently. They have also been sitting through four or five books at bed time. I love reading to them and snuggling with them.

Here are a few pictures form our weekend. The pictures playing with the other kids is from friday. We went to some friends house for dinner and the kids got to play with Jace and Ireland. They always love playing with the big kids.

Our first week

We survived our first week with Mommy working. The kids seem to be doing really well. They love the sitter and mothers day out. I was worried about how the morning routine would work, but things have actually gone really smoothly. I have enjoyed having my mornings at work and my afternoons with the kids for the past couple of days.

They have been a little naughty for me today (I think they are punishing me for going back to work.)  Here are a few pictures from our week.

First Day of School.

Yesterday was the babies first day of “school” (mothers day out). They did so great. We were the first ones there and they ran right in and hardly looked back. Leah gave daddy a hug but Jack didn’t even notice we were leaving. They both got a good report from their teacher. Jack only took about a 30 min nap and his teacher said he talked all day long. Leah slept for an hour and a half and was quiet but happy. They even made a little art project. It is hard to believe my babies are so big. I thought I might be a little sad about the whole thing but I really wasn’t I was just excited for the kids and there new adventure.

Yesterday afternoon when we came home Jack proceeded to talk for about four hours straight without stopping. He obviously liked school and it made him think about a lot of things. All I could really tell that they did yesterday was bubbles and that he sat in the highchair at lunch.

This past weekend the kids were in Jason’s nieces wedding. They looked so cute and did a great job. I somehow only ended up with bad pictures. I am hoping someone else got some good ones of them.

Talking and stuff

This is going to be short and sweet today. I don’t have a ton of time but I wanted to record a few of the cute things the kids are doing so I don’t forget. I wish I had new pictures but I have misplaced the battery charger for my camera and my battery died.  ( I have got to get more organized).

Yesterday when Jason and I were putting the kids to bed I said I love you like I always do and Jack looked at me and said ” I love you.” It was the cutest thing ever!  Jason and I both looked at each other to make sure we really heard it. I have been saying I love you all day today but he hasn’t said it again.

Jack has been talking like crazy. He says probably 15 new words every day. Yesterday he kept saying “Its bumpy out there.” I rolled the shopping cart over some bumps at the store the other day..which he apparently keeps thinking about. While we were at my mom and dads house he pointed to the oven and said “Grandma get the pizza.” There wasn’t any pizza in there at the time but we make pizza a lot at my parents. He also constanly says ” Mama Window Down,” when we are in the car. When my mom put him to bed at her house on Monday night he pointed to the bed and said Grandma night night. (She normally sleeps in there with the kids when we are gone.) It is funny to know that they are suddenly remembering things that we are doing.  We have been working on shapes and Jack can knows circle, square, triangle, rectangle and star. We started working on octagon yesterday and we are almost there.

Leah becomes more sassy everyday. We are still having a hard time getting her to use her words. She knows almost as many as Jack but will only use them if she feels like it. She still loves playing with her babies and her favorite doll Baby Amy goes everywhere with us. Leah has gotten really good at puzzles…she calls them legos. The one thing she will almost always do is tell us her animal sounds. Her list now includes, dog, cat, bee, sheep, frog, turkey, lion, piggy, cow and duck. She loves to dance..her favorite thing is to do the Elmo Slide. We found this online and she cannot get enough of it.

The other new thing the kids have been doing which is so cute is chasing each other. They run around the house in circles and pretend to tickle each other. Jack will even yell Get Leah or Get Jack while he is running.. so funny. All of the sudden they are enjoying more rough play. I am not as good at it as Daddy but he makes time every night when he gets home. The kids take turns getting horse rides and they throw pillows at each other.

I think this may be the longest strech that I have gone without blogging since I started. I feel like things have just been crazy around here and my to do list is a mile long.

A couple weeks ago I had my girls trip to Marco Island. It was AMAZING. I had the best time. It was so nice to just relax, lay out, do a little shopping, eat good food and spend some time with a very good friend. I am grateful to Jason and all of the other people that helped watch my kiddos while I was gone.

We have some other big changes coming at our house soon. I have decided to go back to work part time. I will be working Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8-2. The kids will start “School” or mothers day out in a couple of weeks and go there on Monday’s and we are in the process of hiring a nanny for Wednesdays and Thursdays. Going back to work has been something I have been thinking about for a really long time. I am a little nervous for a number of reasons but I feel like it is the right opportunity and I think it will be a good change for all of us.

There really isn’t much else to report. The kids have been a little crazy recently. I think it is mostly because we have been inside so much beacuse of the extremely hot weather. Today is beautiful and I am planning on spending the entire afternoon outside. Jack is talking up a storm. Leah has decided she can only whine so I spend much of my day saying “Leah use your words.” They are both obsessed with coloring and would color all day long if I would let them. I feel like this next few months they are going to change a lot. They seems so grown up in some ways. I am excited for them to expierence mother’s day out and I know that they will both do great. Here are a few pictures from the last couple of weeks.
